Open-source intelligence (OSINT) research into climate change and conflict
Welcome to Anthropocene Intel, a blog using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) to investigate the impacts of climate change and armed conflict across the globe.
I am Michael Cruickshank, a freelance journalist and analyst currently completing a Masters of International Affairs specialising in Security and Sustainability at the Hertie School in Berlin. Originally from Brisbane, Australia, I have been working as a journalist since 2013. In this period, I have worked in several conflict zones around the world and noticed the way in which technological and climate change was driving growing instability. I believe however that traditional journalism does not adequately cover these topics in an evidence-based way, and instead prefer to investigate them from through the lens of OSINT.
With this in mind, on this blog, I will publish my research into these topics, as well as my thoughts on week-to-week developments around the world.
